Old Time Delights

I have finished Block 4 for my
Girls Day Out Quilt

I am not going to add the sweets to the jars until the shop is ready to open,
or in other words, after it's quilted.

Had some more happy mail yesterday

and the first block for this one might have also arrived.

"A Day in the Country"

No plans to start it straight away, it is very tempting though :o)

If you are also stitching this one, Sue has set up a blog to help keep the girls
stitching it motivated. It is here if you would like to join in or follow.

Is anyone else stitching this one. If so i would love to know so that I can
come and watch your journey.

Tonight is "Friday Night with Friends" being hosted by
Cheryll over at Gone Stitchin so pop on over and sign up.

I'm not sure what I will be working on yet, what about you?

Slow and Steady

Girls Day Out

That is exactly how this project is going... Slow and Steady

I stalled on Blocks two and Three.
So I picked them back up at the weekend by taking them to
Declyn's football game Sunday morning.

Yes I get weird looks but they don't bother me anymore!

So much hand stitching on blocks 2 and 3 and really poor light in our
house at night for hand stitching, I was ready to give up but look what
arrived yesterday ..... an early Mother's Day Present.

There really is no stopping me now.
Blocks 2 and 3 are finished

and I have even finished the 4 stitcheries for the Table Topper in Gail Pans new book.
Just need to go and Visit my LQS for some fabric ;)

And if anyone is interested in a Lamp if their own
HERE is where mine came from and they are still on
special which is a huge discount from the RRP!

Have a great day,
I've got another date with the washing machine,
one of the downfalls of a family of 6 :o)

Bon Noel and GDO

I started stitching the April project for the SAL last night
which is the Bon Noel Wall Hanging from Natalie Birds
booklet "Tis the Season" and I have finished putting it together
today.

I love a quick finish.

I have also prepared two more block for the Girls Day Out Quilt.

It is school holidays here in Victoria and I have two sick kids ... yuck
Think I had better go and re dose them up with medication, put on a DVD
and try to sneak back off into my sewing space ..... 2 swap items still
need some work :o)

Have a great day,
hugs, Sharon

Girls Day Out Quilt

This one is progressing very slowly but I have finished these from Block 2.

I went out in the car this morning to get some more threads to try and finish off these.
(The remainder of Block 2 and 3)

The car broke down in the middle of an intersection so here is Aiden (my 15y.o.) and me
pushing a 4WD (any idea how heavy these dam things are?)
through an intersection to the side of the road with the girls inside.  OMG scary!

Ditched the car and walked home.
Was not going to let this beat me with progressing on this quilt.
So I dug out this block (Block 1) and

added some borders.

Whilst on a roll I prepared this block (Block 4).
Just need to do the embroidery.

and then this one - Block 5.

prepared these

and am up to this one this one!

Just need some RicRac and then I can add the borders to this one also.
I can feel the love for this one coming back.

So my design wall now looks like this.
Hopefully with the cooler weather approaching I can get some serious work
done on this one as I have committed to stitching
"A Little Bit Country".

Car is back in the Driveway thanks to Glenn and a mechanic at his work.
Not going out to get those threads now though!

If you want to see how the other girls are going on their quilts pop on over

Downton anyone?

Downton Abbey that would be.
When the series first came out I was not interested
but in the last week I have sat and watched it all.
Very addictive :o)

These days though, I don't seem to be able to just sit and watch,
my hands need to be doing something.
So first up it was Dresden plates from the left overs
of my Merry Merry Snowman Quilt.

Next up it was a little work on Block 1 of  "Girls Day Out".

A trip to Spotlight last week allowed me to find some
backing fabric for my Vignette Quilt.
I had plans to hand quilt it. Now the Hand Quilting is going to be in
conjunction with a little machine quilting.

This was not meant to happen though :(

and it was not going to stop me!

And a little update on my DIY Table.
I  L O V E it. Best decision ever to have Glenn cut onto it :)
It makes quilting so much easier now and I am pleased
that I no longer need to wrestle that clear extension table.

Now I have finished Downton Abbey I am into the Australian Open.
This time with "Tail Feathers"

How do you spend your time in front if the T.V. ?

Girls Day Out

Girls Day Out Quilt

I have begun my version of this Quilt.

I managed to get the first block ready to stitch in between daily life
and taking the kids to the pool yesterday with the final piece being ironed on
late last night.

and as you can see from the crease, it has spent the night and most of today under
books that I have been looking through for ideas of two swaps I am
currently in!

I am also very lucky to be stitching it with 9 other lovely ladies.
The links to their blogs are just over here on the right.
It is not too late to join in if you wish.

I'm off now to put it on my little table in the lounge so its ready to
stitch when I'm in the mood ;o)

Enjoy your evening,
hugs, Sharon

Friends making Quilts Together

Girls Day Out
Designed by Libby Richardson

 Stitched by Us!

So far there are 8 of us who are going to stitch this quilt.
If you want to join in, please do.
Just leave me a comment and I can add you to the sidebar,
just over here on the right.  You don't need a Blog,
Also feel free to grab the "I'm Stitching" button below and the
"Friends Making Quilts Together" button above

There is no fixed timeline.
We are here to have fun and provide encouragement
to each other to make this wonderful quilt.

The first block is the centre of the quilt,
the "Patchwork Shop".

I am looking forward to seeing what fabrics everyone works with.
I am hoping to start the prep work on my first block next week.

Have a great day,

hugs, Sharon
