Drum Roll Please

Be warned this is a pic heavy post. My

Vignette Mystery Quilt

is labelled and hung on the wall!

 So I am going to "Officially" call it Finished.

Way back when (August 2011) this quilt started out like this

and I had no idea what would be involved in getting it to this

I have learnt so many things, both about quilting and about me

whilst making this quilt.  Anyone who is making this one

will fully understand the commitment and love that goes into

making it. 

OK I am going to stop talking now and hopefully let some pictures

do the talking for me :o)

Downton anyone?

Downton Abbey that would be.
When the series first came out I was not interested
but in the last week I have sat and watched it all.
Very addictive :o)

These days though, I don't seem to be able to just sit and watch,
my hands need to be doing something.
So first up it was Dresden plates from the left overs
of my Merry Merry Snowman Quilt.



Next up it was a little work on Block 1 of  "Girls Day Out".

A trip to Spotlight last week allowed me to find some
 backing fabric for my Vignette Quilt.
I had plans to hand quilt it. Now the Hand Quilting is going to be in
conjunction with a little machine quilting.

This was not meant to happen though :(

and it was not going to stop me!

And a little update on my DIY Table.

I  L O V E it. Best decision ever to have Glenn cut onto it :)

It makes quilting so much easier now and I am pleased

that I no longer need to wrestle that clear extension table.

Now I have finished Downton Abbey I am into the Australian Open.
This time with "Tail Feathers"

Vignette Flimsy

I feel like I should be opening a bottle of wine for this one!

Please allow me to proudly show off my

Vignette Mystery Quilt

as a flimsy :)

Back on the 7th August 2011 it looked like this

And now like this :)

I am so pleased that I stuck with this project.

It is the most labour intensive project I have ever worked on.

If I had not started it when I did and with the naivety of a

newby quilter I don't think I would have ever made it. 



I am now so pleased that I did and it is now a Flimsy.

At times I have wished that I didn't do the Needle turn,

it is by no way perfect but it does reflect part of my journey

with this Quilt. 

Another journey is about to begin with this Quilt.

I was going to send it out to be professionally quilted

but now I feel I need / want to give it more of my time and

hand quilt it so I have been out and purchased a hoop

and some supplies.

Now, do I make a scrappy back out of the left over fabrics?

or is this not such a great idea being I am going to hand quilt it

 and with all those extra seams etc?

Also, I cant help but look at these photos and think twice about

stashing fabric, they are so pretty when they are made into something

and not hidden away, waiting to be used.

Busy Little Elf :o)

We all know it's the silly season and this year I feel very relaxed about it all,

fingers crossed I've not forgotten something or someone.

 

Here is a round up of what has been happening here over the last little bit.

 

 

I have finished the needle turn applique of the Vines on my Lancaster Quilt.

Now to think about the Flowers

I have finished the needle turn of the centre hears on my Vignette Quilt.

I am not going to add the centre circle as I felt it was getting a bit crowded and

my centre seams meet nicely :)

Advent Swap

 

Here are some more gifts that I have received from Carol in Fee's Advent Swap.

I am being totally spoilt, thank you Carol and I do apologise for getting the order

a little mixed up. My helper (aka Miss Lily) and I got a little excited :o)

 



 

LOVE the Anni Downs book mark and check out the wine glass, the base lights up

and changes colour. I took it for a "test drive" last night :o)

 

Carol, you may also notice that we got stuck into the Toffee's and the Liquorice

 before I took the photos.  They were yummy, thank you.

 

And here are some more of the gifts that I sent to Carol.

I also got a little bit busy yesterday and made some treats for the kids at a

Christmas Party we were going to.
 

 

Melting Snowmen are fun and easy to make

Some of theme took their job title just a little to seriously though.

None came home so it is safe to say that they were a hit.

OK, I had better go. Have to lock myself in the bedroom and be a Busy Elf and
finish wrapping some pressies.  Have a great weekend.

Vignette Progress

Vignette Mystery Quilt

I have spent the last couple of nights working on this project as

I set myself a task of trying to get up to date before the next issue comes out

on the 1st September ..... I made it!

I am now officially up to date :o)

I still do not like needle turn appliqué :(

I am thinking that I need to keep my eyes out for a class

and get some one on one tips.

I had the opportunity to talk with Leanne at Urban stitches last month about how she

is thinking about finishing off the quilt. It is great to pick a designers brain :) 

I like where she is going but I thought I might try / do something a little different to 

what Leanne is thinking/planning for the bird corners 

so what better excuse to turn on my sewing machine for the first time in this house

and turn my loose blocks (well the first three rows) into this. 

This is the best that I could do in the kitchen standing on a chair (above) but 

Glenn is a little taller than me so he can get a better overhead shot (below).

Now to go work on these corners and finish setting up my space.

Vignette Mystery BOM

I have managed to finish my Block 16 of the 

Vignette Mystery BOM

Now, if I only knew where I packed blocks 10 and 11 I could get working on them.

Oh well, maybe another Granny Square needs my attention :o)
