August Stitch-along

Bad me. Last month I didn't make the item for the stitch-along,
but I have this month and it's only the 16th!

Here is my "Sewing Case"
designed by Anni Downs and from her book
"Some Kind of Wonderful"
and in true Sharon Style :) of course it had to be in some "B and C" fabrics
so "Scrumptious" and some Linen it is and I LOVE it :o)

Back

and fully lined

It's now sitting with some friends awaiting it's first journey out :o)

You would think that after hand sewing in the lining I wouldn't make another but oh no ..... I am :o)

Little House Pincushion

The Stitch-a-long project item for June is the
"Little House Pincushion"
 from the Book "Red Home".

One side is made from small 1/2" hexagons.
I must admit I found them very cute and a little addictive but don't think
I will be making an insanity quilt any time soon!

Here is my finished item.

New Bag - SKOW

The May project for the On line Stitch-along is the bag from the
Annie Downs book Some Kind of Wonderful.

I wanted to make it the same as the book but I am trying to use what I have
and the only Linen I had on hand was blue, so that is what I went with
and I am loving how it looks.

I used a Cottage Gardens Thread - Peacock No. 1201

I left out the slit in the back for fear that I would "stuff it up"
and when it came to the inside I added a pocket, a "d ring" and
a magnetic clasp.

Now, I could have scheduled this post to go up on the first, especially being it is the
May item for the Sitich-along but nope. I sat up until midnight last night working on it and finished the
binding around the top whilst watching Junior Football at 9am this morning
so it is being Blogged now!  :o)

Must say that I think my Sewing Mojo have given me a huge kick up the ......
as I how have three finishes in three days but please do not think that I did
all of this one in one day. The stitchery panel and pieces have been pinned to my
design wall for a couple of weeks now. I've just been procrastinating about
finishing this one :o)

Now if you just excuse me I have a bit of a mess to clean up in my sewing space
and another load of washing to get on.

Enjoy your Sunday,
hugs, Sharon

Bon Noel and GDO

I started stitching the April project for the SAL last night
which is the Bon Noel Wall Hanging from Natalie Birds
booklet "Tis the Season" and I have finished putting it together
today.

I love a quick finish.

I have also prepared two more block for the Girls Day Out Quilt.

It is school holidays here in Victoria and I have two sick kids ... yuck
Think I had better go and re dose them up with medication, put on a DVD
and try to sneak back off into my sewing space ..... 2 swap items still
need some work :o)

Have a great day,
hugs, Sharon

True Friends Tote Bag

This year as part of the Stitch-along we are making
smaller items through out the year.
The item for February is the
"True Friends Tote Bag"
from the book Red Home by Natalie Bird.

I was stitching my panel on and off during the Australian Open
and now have my completed bag.

The Back

and a pic showing the lining.

This was a fun bag to make. It will now go into my gift basket
waiting for the perfect recipient :)

Have a great day,
hugs, Sharon

Woops missed these!

I was going through my Instagram feed this morning and saw something
exciting (more on that soon) and then realised that I hadn't shared
some things with you. Woops, lets correct that right now.

This one arrived Christmas Eve so I've made two blocks again
(I have been back and repressed that edge seam open so it sits flat now)

I have also done a little more work on my Lancaster Quilt.
I have played with the placement of the flowers to try and get some balance.

Then pinned them near where I want them and have started to applique them on.
I think I am half way around with the large centre of the flower and only 1 flower
completed. If this quilt doesn't get me any better at Needle Turn applique nothing will.

Yesterday I started on my first project for the 2013 Stitch-along and
being that my TTS and Red Home books are still in transit I decided
to make the Shoe Bag from Some Kind of Wonderful.  Here it is, all finished.

Now, what was it on Instagram that I saw.
Let me share :o)

The Fat Quarter Shop have just released their 6th Designer Mystery BOM

It is featuring the Avalon Collection by Fig Tree Quilts

You all know that I love Bonnie and Camille Fabric ranges but next in line
seems to be almost anything by Fig Tree Quilts. So feminine.
If you are interested the link is above. Reserve your spot now, I did! :o)

Have a great day, stay cool,
it's going to be a +40deg day here
and the air conditioner is already on.

hugs, Sharon
