Birdie Stitches Finished

Birdie Stitches

The last block is of my own design so that I could get this one finished to give it as a gift very soon.

I added a Pink Daisy Backing fabric and when quilting I went around every block in a slightly darker gray as a contrast and I am very pleased with how it has worked out.

This quilt was made as part of the Quilt-a-long over at Little Miss Shabby
and the patterns for the stitcheries are there if you would like to download them and make this for yourself.

Enjoy your weekend.  It is wet here this weekend so lots of sewing possibilities.

Birdie Stitches - Last 2 & FNSI

The final two Blocks

I have improvised on both of my last two blocks.
I have made November more relevant to Aust by taking my inspiration from the Spring Racing Carnival / Melbourne Cup

I plan on giving this quilt as a gift in a couple of weeks so I have also made up my own December block so I have time to quilt it.

The binding is made, just need to find a backing fabric and finish it off in time :o)
which, I hope to be able to do if I can rid myself of this flu that has had me basically red ridden for the last few days :o(   No complaining tho, as I have heaps of blog posts to catch up on :o)

I will also be participating in the FNSI tomorrow night (all being well) and I am going to dedicate my time to Vignette Mystery Quilt Block 4 ....... It would be nice to get it finished ... fingers crossed.
Feel free to come and join in, the link is on my side bar.

Thank you for stopping by,
Sharon

Birdie Stitches BOM Progress

Octobers Block - Completed and up to date

I LOVE the spiders :o)

I am still loving this Stitch-a-long as much now as I did when I started it :o)

With only two more blocks to go I decided to add my boarder.

I have used the Sunkissed spots for the boarder and
I am going to bind with the Sunkissed multi stripes.

I have the perfect person to give this quilt to when finished but ideally I would want to gift it towards the end of November so I may need to design my last block so I can get it all completed in time.
I will keep you posted.

If you would like to make this one all the patters are FREE and available over at Little Miss Shabby

Happy stitching,
Sharon

Spring Time Sewing

Oh what a beautiful weekend it was.

Lots of sun, kids running around outside, my Miss Lily rediscovering the joy of water play, yummy salad rolls for lunch and BBQ's for tea.  Roll on summer and with the children starting school holidays later this week the weather couldn't be looking better.  I do love the September school holidays, truly a time to sit back enjoy and reflect what has been the year that is drawing to a fast close but on the scary side, it's long log until Christmas (sorry if that really does scare some!)

My weekend started on Friday afternoon with an impromptu visit to a furniture store where I found these two cushion in a $5 bin ...... WOW just had to have them as I knew that I still have a Hometown Charm pack at home and I had mentioned a desire to make some cushions, well now I only need to "half make".

So from this on Friday afternoon........

To this, just finished this morning ........

I think that they tie in with the table runners on the buffet and table (in the background) just perfectly :)

Birdie Stitches

I also managed to get up to date with my Birdie Stitches with the September Block now a finish.

whoops, should have given it a quick iron :(

Scrap Rainbow Quilt - Progress

Pink Blocks are a finish also.  I now need to go digging for another color, I think Blue might be next :)

I also managed to get a couple of hours of sewing done on my Vignette Mystery Quilt whilst I took my Boys to a local Skate park.  It was a win win for all three of us!

Lastly, we got started on our veggie patch. We ran out of "oomph" with the weed pulling but being that DH had already purchased some lettuces we had to get them in the ground.

Hope you had a lovely weekend
and happy stitching,
Sharon

Progress on two .....

Simple things Quilt along ..............

Couldn't help myself after seeing that some other ladies had pieced their quilts. So here is mine so far :o)

There is no more work to be done on this one until the next lot of instructions for the border are released late next week.

Birdie Stitches BOM

Brrr..... after a cold morning sitting in the car trying (rain made it hard to see) to watch my Son play junior football I have completed this months Birdie Stitches.  This block represents 4th July in the US but being an Aussie I'm saying it represents childhood memories of bonfire nights and the good old BBQ with family and friends. We never had fireworks tho! :(

Sorry about the bad lighting. It is cold and wet here and the only good place to be is in front of the fire :)

.... and yes I have also pieced this one together ....

Still haven't decided what fabric from this cute range to use for the outside border so that bit is a WIP!

Enjoy what is left of your weekend. I am off to sit near a fire with my Kindle or stitch a bit more on my Scandinavian Christmas Block 2.

Happy stitching,
Sharon

Oh No not another project!!!

Oh yes I have done it again .......  I have a fabric addiction, what else can I say?

OK lets start with a progress report.  During the week I finished off Miss K's quilt that she designed :o) with the help of a few magazine's, my stash of 5" squares and our large kitchen table.  She spend many hours laying out the fabric and coming up with the layout (ensuring that two of the same fabric did not touch .... that I fear she has got from me :s ) and I did the rest for her. Oh, and then she wanted to add all the hearts that had to appliqued on.....and stitched by hand :) What do you think?  I am very proud of her and think its a great quilt designed by a then 8 y.o.  Well done Miss K xx

My Green Farm Village quilt rec'd a lot of attention this week with me doing a lot of cutting and piecing.
The blocks started something like this ........

then I added a bit of this .......

I now have this, but still have to do these (below), two borders and then think about the quilting :)

Last night I decided to grab out my "12 Days of Christmas" Layer Cake and get a start on some Christmas sewing  ..... place mats ...... I need 8 for my table so that's one each for us and of course one for Santa and Rudolf ;)   They will have red binding and all the names will be blanket stitched.

Whilst looking at what was left of the layer cake I decided that I also needed a centre piece for the table and so far I have come up with this ........ a 10 min block with only three straight seems ..... loving it!!!!  :)

LOOK WHAT POSTIE DELIVERED THURSDAY
I love the look of this one so I decided that I just had to have it.
It is "Scandinavian Christmas" by Lynette Anderson. I know that she has a new range of fabrics coming out later this year that suits this BOM perfectly but me being me I couldn't wait .... maybe I will have to make it twice :)

and this is what I have done already.

Lastly, I have been thinking about doing the Birdie Stitches BOM over at Little Miss Shabby for a while now and have decided to start ........ I found some Sunkissed Charm Squares at a great price so I no longer had a excuse not to start :)

Enjoy your weekend, I'm off to sort out lunch for the kids and then find a nice quiet corner near the heater and start (or should that be finish) stitching something!

Happy stitching, Sharon
