Spring Time Sewing

Oh what a beautiful weekend it was.

Lots of sun, kids running around outside, my Miss Lily rediscovering the joy of water play, yummy salad rolls for lunch and BBQ's for tea.  Roll on summer and with the children starting school holidays later this week the weather couldn't be looking better.  I do love the September school holidays, truly a time to sit back enjoy and reflect what has been the year that is drawing to a fast close but on the scary side, it's long log until Christmas (sorry if that really does scare some!)

My weekend started on Friday afternoon with an impromptu visit to a furniture store where I found these two cushion in a $5 bin ...... WOW just had to have them as I knew that I still have a Hometown Charm pack at home and I had mentioned a desire to make some cushions, well now I only need to "half make".

So from this on Friday afternoon........

To this, just finished this morning ........

I think that they tie in with the table runners on the buffet and table (in the background) just perfectly :)

Birdie Stitches

I also managed to get up to date with my Birdie Stitches with the September Block now a finish.

whoops, should have given it a quick iron :(

Scrap Rainbow Quilt - Progress

Pink Blocks are a finish also.  I now need to go digging for another color, I think Blue might be next :)

I also managed to get a couple of hours of sewing done on my Vignette Mystery Quilt whilst I took my Boys to a local Skate park.  It was a win win for all three of us!

Lastly, we got started on our veggie patch. We ran out of "oomph" with the weed pulling but being that DH had already purchased some lettuces we had to get them in the ground.

Hope you had a lovely weekend
and happy stitching,
Sharon

A finish.....and progress Show and Tell

New Table Runner Came to life......

Remember the table runner in my last post and how I said I had an idea running around in my brain?  Well the idea wouldn't go away so I made it. Great idea at the time but now I have another idea/project running through my brain ..... more on that later :o)

My "original" Hometown table runner has been moved over to the Buffet and this new one is sitting on our dining table.

I love the fabrics in this range and it is still my current favourite.
One of our living areas backs onto this dining area and there is a general red theme throughout so I might make a couple of cushions to coordinate it all some time in the future (no this is not the project currently "haunting" my brain!)

..... Quick updates on other projects .....

Christmas Bags

So far I have one Bag front stitched and the other is nearly half way.

Made using my scraps of Lynette Anderson's new range of fabric "Scandinavian Christmas"
I am going to need to purchase some more fabric to complete the bags and I am happy with how they are coming together.

Vignette Mystery Quilt Block 2/3

A lot of stitching on this one but I am getting there, slowly.

Scandinavian Christmas

At a stand still.  I need to sit and sew on all those hearts!

My Birdie Stitches Block for September is all traced, I just need to find the time to sit and stitch it.

Miss L's Once Upon a Time Block for this month is still at the Shop!!!  Arhhh. I was there just the other day but got talking and buying other stuff and forgot to get it.  Easily done when you feel like a kid in a candy store only the candy is fabric :o)

Lastly ...... remember this?

The sewing instruction are being held back a little so people have a chance to catch up which it totally OK with me because it will give me a chance to work on the other project in my head!

I have over 900 of the 1008 yo-yo's needed so am super pleased with that!

Thank you for hanging with me on this long post.

Enjoy what is left of your weekend.
Happy stitching,
Sharon

It's a Hometown finish

My Hometown Table Runner is finished ...
and in record time.... for me anyway!

I am so pleased with how this has turned out and without the use of a pattern.
I started this one yesterday morning and had so much fun that I found myself hand stitching on the binding earlier today.

I have used one Charm Pack of "Hometown" by Sweetwater for Moda
some cream fabric from my stash for the background and
the Sunkissed Grey Word print for the binding.

And because I LOVE rolled Quilt Photos, why not do it for the Table Runner :o)

Can you see my cake plate over on the Buffet?

This table runner will eventually end up over there as I have ideas currently "running" through my head for the other charm pack. It is likely to become a somewhat matching square Table runner for the table.

I just LOVE the word prints in this collection and for me it was the perfect choice for the dinning area as it, to me, represents our family at mealtime every night where we all get to sit down, chat and catch up. It is the one guaranted time of the day that we are all together and that is just so important to us as a family.  Some may consider it "old fashioned" but no TV and all of us just sitting and talking ..... such an important part of our life ...... in our little piece of the world :o)

Thank you for stopping by.

Happy stitching,
Sharon
