Oh Deliah

In about October of last year Jen Kingwell announced her new Block of the Month for 2017.

"Delilah"

I love Jens work so I signed up immediately through Jens shop Amitie Textiles in Melbourne.
This Block of the Month is a little different as every month it comes with a set of templates. So not only are participants making Jens "Delilah Quilt" we are also collecting a set of templates that can be individually used to make more blocks or quilts.

Month one has arrived and as you can see I went for the Template and Fabric option.
How could I not, I just love Jen's scrappy style.

This month we were to make two of the blocks and here are mine :)

Did you notice the fussy cut in the one above?

And together.

I am also going to add in a few of my own fabrics as I go. The more the merrier.
This month I have added a few low volumes, plainer than what was included to help my colours pop.

One month down and I am on track!
(I don't have the best track record with BOM's so I am pleased to currently be up to date!)

Next block arrives in a couple of weeks.

Happy Stitching,

Sharon x

Something New

"In Full Bloom"

I am finding that I am being drawn more and more to texture and at the same time I have found myself looking more at Sue Spargo's work.  I love her work and the way that she embellishes her projects.

(examples of Embelishing - Love these pictures)

Then last week I happened to stumble across the registrations for her new BOM.
It's like it was meant to be and I am so glade I signed up when I did because the
program is now full.

The Design

and a sneak peak of the colours and threads.
There will be a mix of Cottons, Wools, Silks and Linen.
I am so excited to be taking this journey which will begin in the new year.
Something to be looking forward to as my baby girl starts school.

All the stitches will be coming from this book so I must add it to the Christmas wish list :o)

Have you got any new projects planned for the new year or joined any new BOM's lately?

Hugs Sharon

Lancaster Part 3

Lancaster BOM / Part 3

Last time you saw my Lancaster Quit it looked like this.

The next part involves cutting some Diamonds and triangles.

a lot of diamonds and triangles.

Then to make some borders and attach some fussy cut squares for the corners.

At the end of Part 3 it looks like this, but I am seeing a problem :(

There is a thin border to go in between the centre square and the
outer diamond borders I have just made,
but I don't see it fitting as things are.

I am not going to do anything at the moment.
I will just wait until I have the border fabric but here is what I think is happening.

The photo on the front of the pattern (see above) has the 9 full diamonds and 2 half diamonds on each end and the instructions tell you to cut the 36 full diamonds and the 8 half diamonds but the shaded picture actually inside the pattern shows, 11 full diamonds and I am actually thinking that I might be meeting somewhere in between, at 10 full diamonds and the 2 half diamonds (one each end).  I will let you know how I go!

Have a great evening.

BOM Progress

Merry Merry Snowmen

I took Block 7 with me last night and managed to finish it off.
Not bad I thought considering the amount of chatter  :)

The block isn't lopsided in real life!
I just took wonky photos and am to lazy to go and take another :o)

So that brings me up to date on this project as Block 8 begins it's journey to me.
I have also marked next months "Sit and Stitch" on the calendar.

Have a great day.
I have some last minute stitching to do for Daylesford tomorrow.
I am looking forward to another day out with like minded people :o)

Weather Vane

"Weather Vane"
is the next block in the
2012 Designer Mystery BOM

It was designed by Barbara Groves and Mary Jacobson
otherwise known as "Me and my Sister Designs"
and I have finished sewing up mine this morning.

Here are my first three blocks so far.

Santa Sack Swap

Also managed to get a couple more Xmas pressies ready to hand over to
Shez at the Bloggers meet this coming Saturday.

I'm off  now to find my pins and pincushion.
I asked for help to "flip" the back room yesterday (where I am sewing)
in a hope that the space might work better and since then they have been missing in action.

No one is owning up to "hiding" them on me and I
know they were her Sat night as I was using them.
hmmm ..... I could go buy more and while I'm there maybe some new fabric?

Have a great day.

Celebrations, rethinks and a bit of progress

Celebrations, rethinks and a bit of progress?
Witty titles are not my strong point at the moment :(

Miss Keegan celebrated her 10th Birthday yesterday.

Rainbow cake of sorts - yummy Vanilla and Chocolate
so the girls and I went out for lunch in town.
Thank you dear Primary School for having a pupil free day for Keegan's birthday!

We had a lovely lunch in a little Italian restaurant, just the three of us
and then we enjoyed some retail therapy ... 10 year old style!
Clothes, clothes and more clothes and the icing on the cake .... a One Direction Poster.

Happy Birthday Miss Muppet, So pleased you had a fantastic day xx
(I am still trying to work out where the last 10 years have gone)

My Favourite Things - SKOW

Not far to go now.

and the rethink?

Late last year I was in a Christmas Charm Square Swap.
When they arrived I started to sew up a picnic rug but never finished it.

I don't know what I was thinking, then or now because I started doing this at the weekend

and now I have this

104 5" charm square ready to go AGAIN
Now what to do with them?

I am trying to finish off a few things so that I can start a few more
(my attempt at being disciplined) I am also stalking my inbox as this is just about to start

and I am so looking forward to it.

Off now, it is not quite 10am, it's blowing a gale and I think I need to light the fire
and find something to help my sore throat and pounding head.
Once I get that under control I might be able to sneak back into my sewing space :o)

Oh, one last thing, see at the top of my Blog on the right hand side.
It's my Blogoversary very soon. Do you feel like a little give away?
OK, let me see what I can do :o)

Something New

Merry, Merry Snowmen
by Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs

My first instalment for this new BOM  arrived
in my mailbox last month (yikes, where has that last month gone)
and the next one is due any day now.
It seems like my stitching at the moment has a
common theme of Christmas sewing as I have been busy working
on some secret Santa Sewing for the Angel Swap.

This is the first time that I have layed my hands and eyes on the
French Generals' Rounneries Deux collection by Moda Fabrics
in person and I love them.

Block 1

Backing Fabric

I don't plan on starting this one just yet (just as well as the fabrics are just too pretty to cut into) as I would like to get a couple of other things finished first, but I do hope to start it soon.

Are you going to be working on this one also?
I would love to know and maybe we could support and encourage each other

Enjoy your day, hugs, Sharon
