Sewing and FNWF

Things are a little quite here at the moment on the sewing front.
Most nights are spent working on my Cross Stitch projects.

Here is a progress shot of my
"12 Days of Christmas"

The pattern is released over 3 weeks - one row per week and the border was released upon signing up.
So I may only be half way through the border but I have completed week ones stitching.

It is

TONIGHT being hosted by Cheryll. Feel free to pop on over, sign up and have some fun with us.

Fiona is bringing the Beer,
Shez the nuts,
Jeanette the Pretzels.
Me the wine and
Christine has the dip all sorted.
(see HERE in the comments)

I am hoping that I can actually get some sewing done. Not sure exactly what yet but I will be back over the weekend and share what I got up too.

hugs Sharon

Friday Sewing - FNWF

I started earlier in the day by finish cleaning up the mess I made Thursday by rearranging my fabric
cupboard that was getting just a little out of control and could not fit these lovely purchases in :o)

First one is a FQ Bundle of "Florence" by Denyse Schmidt
Then a bundle of Sun Print Arrows and I can't believe it has taken me so long to get this one
but a bundle of Happy Go Lucky by Bonnie and Camille :o)

(It's been a REALLY good mail week )

So now all my patterns etc live in the Linen press in the laundry and my fabric plays happy here.

Getting a little side tracked here but with Bonnie and Camilles newest line "Scrumptious" about to hit the shops I've also made room for that FQ Bundle to fit when it arrives.  Also, have you seen the new line due for release in six months?  April Showers.  I am not totally sold on it yet but am loving some of the floral prints.  I had similar feelings over Happy Go Lucky, maybe its the addition of the navy again?  Me knowing me, I'll be adding a bundle to my little collection :o)

Back to FNWF :o)
I made a skirt for my cutting table.  Looks much better if you ask me as it hides all my crap stuff.

Then it was time to go out and watch on nail biting game of Basketball.
Aiden's team was playing in the Preliminary Final last night and they took it into Overtime.
I'm super excited to say they did it and next Friday night it's Grand Final time :o)

When we were back home and all settled in for the evening I started stitching my third one of these.
This time for me :o)  It is Gail Pans "Stitching Makes my Heart Happy" pattern which is a folder to keep Cottage Garden Threads in.  You can see mine patiently waiting to the right :o)

Enjoy your Saturday.

Friday Night With Friends

Last night it was FNWF hosted by Cheryll

I had grand plans but then faced the reality that I really needed to get some stuff off my cutting table and the best way to do that was to finish some cutting!

So I worked out how many full fabric Hexagons I still needed for my Best Friends Forever Quilt and started cutting.

Layer cakes are not the most effective cut to be using for this project but that is OK because I have forward thought and the scraps (pictured at the back) are the perfect size to work with Rosalie Quinlan's "Scandanavian Rose" project :o)

All stacked ready to be sewn but sadly this is as far as I got last night.
The rest of the evening was spent curled up on the couch under a quilt :o)

So far I have cut into 4 layer cakes for this project.  Normally this is hard for me to do but this fabric range is so pretty and is such a pleasure to work with. I have two more layer cakes in transit. One for the stash and one last one for the framing/backing of the stitched hexagons and whats left will be cut for "Scandinavian Rose".

Glenn is away on a "Boys weekend", it is also wet and cold here so hopefully the kids will settle in front of the TV and I can get some serious sewing done :)

Have a great weekend,
hugs Sharon

A "Scrumptious" Friday Night Sewing

I had these lovelies arrive in the mail yesterday.
It is the new range to be released later this year by the very talented mother
and daughter team, Bonnie and Camille.

"Scrumptious"

and just let me say, it lives up to its name :o)

First job was to add the Jelly Roll to my display.

Then every plan I had for Friday Night Sewing with the girls over
at Cheryll's changed and I cut into a Charm pack.

In the midst of a bit of chain piecing I looked up to see the newest B and C range meet my B and C Scraps. - I must remember to share my plans for them with you ...... soon :)

I even got as far as to add some binding to my project.

and a little hand stitching.

When it's all finished I will pop back in and share the finished items with you.

Have a great day,
hugs Sharon

Friday Night With Friends

Last night I decided to start another project from
Gail Pans new book, Simply Christmas

It was time for a Coffee Break at the change of colours :o)
and this is how it looked this morning

I love the Cottage Garden Threads

Hopefully I can find some time this weekend to add the borders and finish it off.
Thank you Cheryll for another lovely night sewing with friends.

Have a great day,
hugs, Sharon

Lancaster Quilt - Progress

Last night I chose to work on my
Lancaster Quilt
as part of FNWF and I shared my
journey in Instagram as I went.

Here are the "progress pictures" as posted to Instagram :o)

First up I added the 1.5" brown border all around then
set about cutting triangles.

Then the diamonds

It took me a few "go's" to get points right but they were achieved after
a few errors and assistance from my quick unpick.

Then the first diamond border went on .... yay :o)

Then there were two :o)

Fussy Cut corners for the next two
(still loving having my machine set into the table)

Then there was three.

Ta Da!
All four borders on.
I have achieved what I set out to do for the night.

I started working on this at about 4pm yesterday and finished
about 11.30 last night.

Next up for this Quilt is another border strip and then some clam shells.
About 150 per side so think they might just wait for another time.
They are all hand pieced :o)

Have a great day,
hugs, Sharon

Pezzy Play on a Friday Night

Do you remember me posting these first two photos earlier in the week?

I have had this FQ bundle for a while. Just waiting for the perfect project.
I found it and started cutting.

Sewing

and trimming ........  I HATE trimming HST!
(Just putting that out there)  :)

and yesterday afternoon they started to all come together.

The odd block above are some scraps sewn and made into
another block. It might just end up pieced into the back.

Then the fun bit, playing with placement.
I decided to go with a 5 x 6 layout because I was to lazy
to make another 3 blocks and I really didn't want to
use the black print.  The 3 left over blocks are now
earmarked for the back also.

The border does go all the way around, you just cant see it on the bottom
as even Glenn is not tall enough to hold this one all the way up.

I first saw this quilt

over HERE
then the blocks and cutting directions started
popping up on Instagram.
Then Di started making one. I commended on hers and here I am
now with one of my own.
Thank you Di for the little kick I needed to start this one :)

This flimsy is now inline to be quilted.

So this is how I spent my

Friday night with friends

I am looking forward to blog hopping later today
to see what everyone else go up to.

Have a great weekend,
hugs, Sharon
