Last night it was FNWF hosted by Cheryll
I had grand plans but then faced the reality that I really needed to get some stuff off my cutting table and the best way to do that was to finish some cutting!
So I worked out how many full fabric Hexagons I still needed for my Best Friends Forever Quilt and started cutting.
Layer cakes are not the most effective cut to be using for this project but that is OK because I have forward thought and the scraps (pictured at the back) are the perfect size to work with Rosalie Quinlan's "Scandanavian Rose" project :o)
All stacked ready to be sewn but sadly this is as far as I got last night.
The rest of the evening was spent curled up on the couch under a quilt :o)
So far I have cut into 4 layer cakes for this project. Normally this is hard for me to do but this fabric range is so pretty and is such a pleasure to work with. I have two more layer cakes in transit. One for the stash and one last one for the framing/backing of the stitched hexagons and whats left will be cut for "Scandinavian Rose".
Glenn is away on a "Boys weekend", it is also wet and cold here so hopefully the kids will settle in front of the TV and I can get some serious sewing done :)
Have a great weekend,
hugs Sharon
A "scrumptious" stack of cut fabric ready for sewing. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeletelove this fabric range Shaz and you got a lot of preparation done ,you are probably sick of cutting by now,.
ReplyDeleteNow you can just whip through them ,i must cut some hexies out today too, have a lovely weekend Shaz.xx
Great work so far, and love that fabric. I know what you mean about cutting layer cakes. I am always looking for something else to cut first.
ReplyDeleteLove your fabric choices. great job done. No stopping you now.
ReplyDeleteLove your hexies, you got a lot of cutting done now for the fun stuff and start stitching/sewing them up :) Barb.
ReplyDeleteI bet it feels great having all that cut out now!
ReplyDeleteI think the cutting out is the worst part sometimes, but now that it is done you can just sit and stitch!
ReplyDeleteThis project is coming together soo quickly!
ReplyDeleteI bet you were exhausted after all that cutting. I can't decide what to use for my hexagons so I can't buy the threads as yet. Probably just as well as I have lots on the go and not getting much of anything done. I love Bonnie and Camille fabrics. Your quilt will be gorgeous when finished. Hugs....
ReplyDeleteWow! 5 layer cakes? That's an incredible amount!!! That much cutting last night must've left you with sore hands, lol! ... I might look at getting a FQ bundle or two, or half yard bundle if I can find it ;) in September for mine if you're using that much fabric for the pattern!!
ReplyDeleteIt is really very pretty... and you are making the most of using all the pieces...
ReplyDeleteHugz
Good grief, that was a massive task! I can't wait to see your Scandinavian Rose quilt done in those gorgeous fabrics!
ReplyDeleteBoy that is a lot of cutting Sharon - the fabrics are beautiful! Well deserved rest on the couch. Hope all is well.

This is a beautiful project.
ReplyDeleteI agree simply scrumptious. It is great to get a whole lot of prep work done so you can steam straight ahead on to the fun stuff. Well done xx
ReplyDeleteYou were a busy girl, cutting takes so long doesn't it. My hubby was supposed to go away fishing this weekend but the weather was too bad. I don't know who was more disappointed.. me or him. lol
ReplyDeleteGreat job to have done Sharon, have a lovely weekend sewing...
ReplyDeleteyou are totally organized, all ready to go..have fun//
ReplyDeleteIt's good to get the cutting out of the way as now you can look forward to putting it together. It's a lovely project you are doing and the colours are so pretty.
