Slow going ....

Soda Pop - Rainbow Slushee

My Soda Pop quilt is all basted and I am going through the motions of quilting it!
Not necessarily enjoying the quilting process on this one.
I think it has something to do with the curves :(

I will stick with it as I love the way this one looks.
I think that the backing that I have chosen in nice and bold to!
Black with white polka dots ..... Love It! :o)

Not to much else happening on the sewing front but I did manage to
get in on this one this morning

Orange / Aqua / Grey Mystery Charm Swap

Imagine the possibilities

Enjoy your evening,
I'm off to do the tea dishes and think about getting
back to a few more rows of quilting curves :o)

Ouch .. look what happens when

Your Mo-jo finds you and kicks you in the butt ...

When I joined this Quilt-along I knew one thing ......
that I wanted to use fabrics from my stash.
Many combinations were auditioned with very little success
so my next source of inspiration was Google images.
With this search I came across a couple of images that sparked "something"

So I took those images and the constant question of "Why" when my children are standing at a slushee machine swapping from one flavour to another "Layering" their drink and came up with this....

The start of my "Rainbow Slushee" as part of the
Soda Pop Quilt-a-long.

There  are  were lots of petals to make for this quilt.

For a couple of nights this top lived on my kitchen table.
It was taking shape and I was inspired to just keep going, so I did!

I decided to graduate the solids from black to dark grey, soft grey to off white.

Woops ...... don't know how that happened!
guess I was inspired so much by the original

Orange Soda by Katy Jones

that I just could not stop
making my version.

Here is my completed flimsy,
my version of the "Soda Pop" Quilt
"My Rainbow Slushee"

The pattern now calls for all the petals to be raw edge/machine appliquéd on and then
quilted but I thought I might combine those two steps.
I am hoping to start quilting this one later this week.

Enjoy your sewing

Just a little sewing this week

Wow it really has been a quiet week for me on the sewing front and just as I was starting to feel better we had to rush Miss Lily off to the Doctor.  I am now learning very quickly how to deal with Croup.  Definitely not something I would wish upon anyone, parent or child.

Pretty much all of my day yesterday was spent with my little one curled up on my lap until dad got home and she quickly changed spots and dad got the cuddles for the rest of the night. Happened to be great for me as I appreciated the break and it also allowed me to do something for the FNSI.

I pulled out a UFO. It has been a LONG time since you or I have seen this one.
 Once Upon a Time BOM
and pieced together the last two blocks.
They are now ready for some attention when the mood strikes.

I am a little behind on my
Merry Merry Snowman BOM
so I also pieced block 4

now block 3 and 4 are sitting there awaiting me when the mood strikes.

My little table is starting to get a real pile of stitching on it now with the above blocks as well as 4 blocks for the Vignette Mystery Quilt and a little something for one of the Christmas Swaps I'm in. Hope my Mo-jo for some hand stitching finds me soon.

Ohh, see the Tilda's Christmas Ideas Book at the top, it arrived yesterday ... Love it!
might just have to get the others now.  I have also admired from afar but think I am now
converted and in love :o)

I also managed a little retail therapy on Thursday
and these goodies came home with me

I have plans for the solids and the top two DS Fabrics I just couldn't resist.

I have also decided on a "flavour" for my quilt as part of the
Soda Pop Quilt-a-long

 Rainbow Slushee.
If all goes well I might be able to get a start on it after
I make this weeks Bottled Rainbow block.

Hope you have a great weekend.
