Dolly and Me - Update

"Dolly and Me"

Really wishing that the dedication that I have shown to this quilt in the last few days hung around for a while.
I love how this quilt has the 3D elements.

Block one you have seen before.

The New Block 2.
I had a remake thanks to incorrect sashing being sent with the final block :(

I actually like this one better as Lily picked the Bikini and Dress fabrics :o)

Blocks 3a and 3b

Block 4 and the 2 bunny rabbits to go in the Pram

Block 5.  Just need to make his little girl teddy for his arms.

Block 6 (and my favourite).

If you lift the yellow blanket there is a heart that says "Love you" and a bumble bee.

Block 7 - Raggedy Anne

Center Block

and finally as they will be all layed out.

Each block has sashing in between and then a couple of borders.

Now, any volunteers to sit and hand stitch the blanket stitch on all the blocks (but the first) for me?

May be Will be a while before you see this one again but it does feel well to get it this far so quickly.
It's now made it to my little table in the lounge to become one of the projects that I work on in front of the T.V.  at night.

There are now 3 of my current 12 projects on my WIP/UFO list that need a lot of "hand work" done on them. I should go and get another item off that WIP/UFO List out as I tend to only hand stitch at night.

Until next time.

Making myself accountable

I am sure that I am not the only person in this position.

My current WIP / UFO list currently looks a little like this.

Girls Day Out Quilt
Vintage / Liberty Spools Quilt
Lancaster Quilt
Dolly and Me Quilt
Bali Wedding Star/Wedding Ring Quilt
Hex on the Beach Quilt
Best Friends Forever BOM
Tail Feathers Quilt
Mrs. Bealsey's Sampler (Up to date)
Toes in the Sand BOM
Scandinavian Rose Quilt
Midnight at the Oasis Quilt

Yikes that's an even Dozen!  Looks like I really need to make myself accountable.
And look they are all quilts except for one wall hanging (Mrs. Beasley Sampler).
7 of them are heavy on the Embroidery / Applique.
3 are Hand Pieced

So what's my plan?
To try hard to finish some things before the end of the year and try really hard to avoid any starts.
By putting this in writing and on my Blog is my attempt to keep me accountable :o)

I am going to pick one project at a time to work on. Something that I am obviously not that good at doing!
I'm not even going to attempt to list the projects that are sitting here all ready to go and the other BOM's that I am currently stashing!

So, the first project on that list that is going to get my attention?

Thought I had better work on this one before Miss Lily outgrows it.
Last time I worked on this was about 7 months ago. How do I know? Because the last block arrived in my mail box in the last fortnight.  Quick refresher ......

Block 1

 Block 2

and all the rest ready to go.

 Wish me luck :o)

Dolly and Me

Dolly and Me BOM
Block 2.

98% of this block was finished before I went into Hospital last week.
I am really enjoying making this one. Lily loves to see what the
block looks like on the pattern before I start and is constantly
by my side when I am putting it together.  It is like we are
making this one together. So much fun.

Lily picked which girl got what coloured bikini.

Then Lily picked what dress went where.
The dresses are supposed to have Velcro to hold them in
place and be swapped (or in reality lost!) so I have slip stitched around
the top and to the arms to hold them in place.
They hang nicely and can be lifted to see their bikinis!

And here is the finished Block :o)

I added some button detail to the dresses and flowers.
They are missing their eyes at the moment as I cant find
small enough ones. If all else fails I will embroider them on later.

OK my scale is off but here is how Blocks one and two will be
positioned on the finished quilt.
Lily and I are both looking forward to the arrival of Block 3.

Enjoy your Sunday,
hugs Sharon and Lily.

Dolly and Me - oh Yes I did :)

Couldn't help myself.
I signed up for the new BOM
Dolly and Me
and my 1st Block arrived Thursday

 "Bessie Bear"

Is it just "sooo" cute that I had to start preparing it immediately.
Then Glenn took the kids to the pool in the afternoon so I got some
"me time" to start the stitching in peace :)

Started to feel a bit better today so I went and made the little bear

but of course I could not leave it there so went and finished the "Bessie" the big bear.
I love the 3D elements to the blocks.

and you know the BEST BIT?
 Lily  L O V E S   it :)

Lime Sherbet

Designer Mystery BOM
Block 8 arrived in the mail yesterday
This one is called "Lime Sherbet"
and it is designed by both Bonnie and Camille
so it almost has to be the best block so far! :o)

As you can see I have been able to get two blocks made again this month.

New Pincushion

Whilst Blog surfing on Monday I saw a pincushion in a picture frame
so now I have my own :)  Super easy to make. I just made a cushion,
pushed it through the frame and put the back on and it was done.
Who would have thought that a pin cushion that stands up is so convenient to use.

Arriving in the mail this week is my "Little Red" Kit from Ballarat Patchwork.

I am looking forward to making her.

Shez, if you are ever in there and see that they have any other
of Jodie's Patterns kitted up please let me know :o)

Have a great day,
Hugs Sharon

Dolly and Me

A new BOM by Kookaburra Cottage .
"A delightful new quilt with gorgeous dolls, bears,
butterflies etc and added 3 dimensional cuddleable dolls in the pockets"

Lily needs a new quilt for her bed doesn't she?
After all the one on her bed was made 2 years ago.
(Pictured below)
And it was my first BOM quilt :)

OK, exciting game of tennis is on so I'm going back to watch it
but really do fear I may just sign up for this one really really soon :)
