When Dear Jane meets Tula Pink - Row A

When Dear Jane meets Tula Pink
- the EPP version.

I have finished Row A of my Dear Jane Quilt and I am loving this project more than I probably should!  I am loving the tiny piecing. Some blocks already have over 40 pieces in them and these blocks are a mere 4.5" square.

I am also making myself sash the blocks as I go because I know I will hate myself at the end if I do not and its also a great way to ensure that all those tiny pieces of paper get removed in a timely manner instead of all at the end when patience is wearing thin and a few are bound to be missed.
Not something that my Long Arm Quilter would be to happy about!

Here is my progress so far.

I have also decided to work on my borders as I go.
This quilt is going to be a true explosion of colour.

I am approaching this project with the same plan as my La Passacaglia.
Not overthinking the colour placement and just working with what ever fabrics I am liking on that particular day.

I am using the silver/grey print from Tula Pink's "True Colours" Range for the consistent background.
The black sashing is a black on black swiss dot by Riley Blake and a thin black and white stripe for the scallop edge.

Time to start Row B.

Happy Stitching,

Sharon xx

Dear Jane - Rainbow edition

I have made a start on the physical blocks for my
Rainbow Dear Jane

These blocks lend themselves to many construction methods
so I will attempt to list the methods I have chosen to use and on some
I will list how many pieces there are in the block. Lets also remember
that these blocks finish at 4.5"

A1 - Foundation Pieced - 32 pieces

A2 - Foundation pieced - 40 pieces

A3 - Needle turn applique

B1 - Needle turn applique

B2 - rotary cut and pieced :o)

So far my quilt looks like this :o)

Long way to go but it is a start :o)

Enjoy your day,
Hugs, Sharon

Planning my Dear Jane

Dear Jane Quilt
I have been playing with my new Dear Jane software

Reading the instruction Manual over and over.
One day it will click, I hope!

A bit of playing later

Ahh . . . .  this is more my style.

Now how do I print the patterns?

It took me a while but the first three rows of  block patterns are printed
and color coded.  Now to find some fabrics and think about tackling those tiny pieces.

Lost my mind!

It is official, I have gone crazy!
Why you may ask (you also may not, but I am going to tell you anyway) :)

This is why

Oh yes, I have committed to start the
Dear Jane Quilt.
I am even moving away from the book and going to use the Software Program.
Hope I don't regret software v's book.

You would have thought that after making my Farmer's Wife
I would not go near this project but I have.
I have actually been thinking about it for a while, that's part of the
reason my Farmer's Wife got finished.

So, I have committed to it and I have a "partner in crime" :)
It is all Jennie's fault
(Yes, I know, it doesn't take me much to start something new
or to lay blame on someone else!)
I am all up for friendly banter and encouragement.

Many, many times over the last 12 months or so I have surfed the internet
looking at Dear Jane Quilts. So many beautiful and inspiring versions.
But I was struggling with making a decision on, Traditional Civil War, Green or blue,
even a Black, White and Grey combination and of course the Rainbow option.

I still have not made a firm decision but true to form for me, Rainbow is winning
at the moment.  Might even be able to "scrap bust" on some blocks.

But, which version?
White or black?

or should I go more traditional......aghhhh!!!!

I keep coming back to this image though.

Have I just answered my own question?

So, if you have just started or have been thinking of starting his one pop
on over and see  Jennie and let her know and we can do this together :)

I'm off to surf some more :) then I had better find my sewing Mo-jo
that the heat of the last week has run off with or all my
WIP's are going to be UFO's
