Progress can be slow

Bali Wedding Star Quilt

This poor project has been moved from one spot to another to the point that is was no longer in order and a right royal mess. So yesterday I cleaned off the work space and set to getting things back in order and in all honesty I was becoming totally overwhelmed by it all.

After taking a step back to evaluate and then a quick visit to Spotlight for a new blade as there was still some cutting to be done, I was back and looking at those pages upon pages of foundation papers that needed to be cut.

Progress was slow but when it was done I was then confronted with these huge piles of fabric and foundation papers.  I decided to tackle that pile at the front .........  only 128 papers there!

Progress is being seen but I am now taking a break thanks to Miss Lily's and daddy.

Home made bickies and a nice hot Coffee.
I need the coffee!

Until next time, I hope you find the time to do something you love.

Creating the rainbow

Bali Wedding Star

I feel like I really have been a woman on a mission since Friday with this project.

896 pieces later and I need to stop.
My wrist hurts :(

Only two more colours to go and I've finished the "A Units" and can move onto the "B Units".

I hope you got to do something you loved this weekend.

Hugs Sharon

Playing again

Bali Wedding Star

So this is where I left these pieces Friday night.

Then Saturday when I was going through my Instagram feed I saw that there was a
Friday night virtual sew along.  So I joined in with my Northern Hemisphere IG friends for two hours and .....

finished off the Green A Units and
moved on to the Pink A Units

and finished them too.

Please tell me that I am not the only person who leaves their scraps on the
cutting table because they look so pretty. :o)

You may remember that with my Glacier Star Quilt I kept a tally of the pieces, just for fun.
Well I have decided to do it again :o)  so far I am up to 640 pieces.

I so want to get stuck into the next colour but the family needs uniform for school and work tomorrow......damm it! lol

Bali Wedding Star

I decided that my project of choice for FNWF would be my
Bali Wedding Star Quilt.

This is another Quiltworx pattern that is all Foundation Pieced.
Mine will finish at 104" Square.
I started my sewing earlier in the day knowing that there would be a break in the evening
as Declyn was playing Basketball at 8.30pm.

There are 32 arches in each colour required.
I have started the "A Units" thus breaking it down to 16 Units of each at the moment.

Not bad for a days sewing.
I am leaving the trimming to later as we are having another get together in January at my LQS
for the other local ladies working on this project.  I figure I can trim them then instead of taking in my machine.  If you are interested in this pattern I think Nicky still has one (possibly more) left in store and of course she can always order one in for you :o)  (just saying. I'm always happy to enable) :o)

I also got to play Hairdresser to Santa!
This is one of Lily's favorite Ipad games at the moment.
She likes to take photos and save them to the Ipad to show Dad later.

Lily and I also hung her latest Kinder creation.

We really do have Santa watching over us this year.

I also had some "happy mail" of which I had to hide from Lily as I am planning on making this one for Lily and giving to her for her 5th Birthday in March.

Yes my baby girl will be 5 in March. How did that happen?
I now need to try and sneak in some real secret sewing time when she is tucked up in be :o)

If you are interested in the pattern or kit Natalie over at Cinderberry Stitches has them listed in her shop.
I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw that the kit was only $50.

Must go, more sewing to do, Santa Styling to do and of course blogs post to read.
hugs Sharon.

Colour Inspiration

or should that read ..... Inspired by Colour?

Yesterday I turned this

into this

Then stacked them (in colours ranges) from light to dark and then re-stacked in the "orders" below
Best done when your 4 year old is occupied!

Until I had this. I may or may not have changed the clips to match the fabrics,
OK, yes I have since changed the clips to match the fabrics .....   :)

Which has left me with all these.
Way to pretty to throw out.  Does anyone want them? They are free to a good home :o)
I've been told they can be used for a crochet rug (I don't crochet) or a scarf if you sandwich them between some wash away "stuff", stitch tightly and wash or they could be felted (?) into an artwork?

If you can use them let me know and I will send them your way.
(Australian residents only please)

and of course, yesterday's Happy Mail.

A FQ Bundle on Kona's new colours for 2103
Total Low Calorie Eye Candy!
School Holiday's start today. Ask me in two weeks how I feel about that :o)

Planning something BIG

A post way back here got me thinking .... thinking BIG
Bali Wedding Star Quilt
It is my Biggest project to date as it will finish at 104" x 104"
8 x 8 rings and all Foundation Pieced.

The black above is my background fabric and below is the
fabric for my arches.  Each arch goes  dark to light. They look a little washed in this picture below.
I probably should have photographed them with the darks on top, oh well.

9 Sets of fabrics - 8 fabrics in each.
This photo below is a little better, it was taken at my LQS at the end of my "shopping trip".
I have to give HUGE thanks to Nicky at my LQS for all her assistance in helping me select my fabrics.

Above is the Quilt that was hanging in my LQS (left) and the one on the right that I found online and clinched the deal for me :o)  My star points are going to be two toned, white and light blue. Here's hoping I get my points in the right spot (can you see the mistake above?)  I am just waiting for my star point fabric to arrive.

OK so what you have just read above was written about 7 weeks ago and has been sitting here in Draft form in Blogger ever since.  During this time I have been plodding away cutting out all the Foundation papers for my arches all the time the fabrics have been sitting here tormenting me.  Then yesterday, me being me, I allowed myself to play and cut into some fabric. :0)

So far I've cut into the Yellow and Purple stacks and the rest are ironed ready to go.

So there you go, officially another start!
A BIG start.
