Glacier Star Class

This afternoon I got to spend time with like minded ladies at my LQS for the next Glacier Star Class.  Before   I get to that thought look at this.

This beauty is hanging in my LQS this month and it is taunting me :)  I am sure that we all have a Wedding Ring Quilt in us but my question is, will this one be mine?  It is called "Bali Wedding Star"

Each arc is a graduation of colour from light to dark.  It is stunning.

OK Blogger is taunting me now and wont put this pic the right way :( but here is my progress from today's class.  Still a little more to go but not bad progress for an afternoon I think.

I have finished and trimmed them since getting home.

and here is how things look at the moment.  I still have to do the other side of points and am feeling rather thankful that it is the shorter side :)

Here is one of the other ladies progress. I am loving the pop of orange.

I am unable to attend the next class so I am not allowing myself to cut into this tempting pile that arrived this week until I have done the work required for the next class.  Which is "only" 24 curved flying geese blocks plus borders (and I put the word "only" in that sentence ... silly me)

Hope you had a great Saturday. I might go see if I have a little more in me to start the other side blocks.

hugs, Sharon

Best Friends

Best Friends Forever BOM
Installment One

With the lack of "quality TV" last night here in Australia I managed to get Installment one completed.

Each installment only calls for 8 of the other Hexies but being I have changed the layout I made 18!
I am also planning on making 3 half hexies to fill the gaps at the top.

I have had a few emails about the coloured threads I am using.
Here is the list, they are all DMC.
958, 954, 962, 151, 604, 3812, 3851, 3766, 3810,
3854, 817, 601, 3861, 703, 472
And the fabric is "Scrumptious" by Bonnie and Camille.
This line is released later this year but if you are lucky you can find some
pre-release samples floating around.

Now, I must go. We had a water pipe explode in the bathroom yesterday afternoon.
About 5 mins before I was supposed to leave to pick Miss Lily up from Kinder.
I do not want to think about what things would be like if it happened 5 minutes later and no one was home.
It might have only taken the Plumber 10 minutes to fix but I am still washing towels and
blankets :(

Celebrations Time again

It is swap time again for the Mrs. Martins Celebrations Swap.
The theme this time around was the Biggest Morning Tea.
It would seam as though Claire and I had similar thoughts this time around.

Here is what I received from Claire

A lovely new Mug Bag, new Mug and a Tea wallet.
I am very spoilt and I love them, thank you Claire.

Here is what I sent to Claire

A Mug Bag made with Tilda fabrics.

(are you seeing the common theme?)  :o)

Filled with goodies :o)

"Snap" Claire  :o)

and you are going to have to excuse this next photo but I can not find the original for the life of me
and I want these to count to my OPAM for this month so here are
the three Mug Bags that I have made because one is just not enough :o)

One for Claire and two for the Gift Box.

Have a great day,

Super Tote

My Super Tote
designed by Noodlehead (made by me) is finished.

I get a real kick out of picking fabrics with a plan in mind and having it work.

I added some Diamond quilting to the gusset and a Dragon Fly to the front pocket to finish it off.

It is fully lined, the zip allows it to open super wide and has 4 great big internal pockets.
I even added a clip for the car keys :)

If you would like to make your own the pattern can be purchased from HERE
Fresh Poppy Design
Now if you are heading to Friends in Stitches next month and see this bag make sure you come up and say Hi :o)

Craving Natural Light

Very little sewing here.
Silly me, on Saturday I decided to move things around to get my sewing machine and cutting table
over by the windows and make the most of the winter sun.

Re-purposing an old table but whoops it needs a new top .... "Glenn"

That's better but I have had to take 2 bookcases out of the room so need somewhere to store my scrap boxes.  "Hey Glenn ....... I have an idea" (By this stage Glenn was ready to run! lol )

That's better. My former cutting table was 2.3mtr long,
this one is only 1.5mtrs. Hope I can make this work :o)

The Table needs a skirt now as I have to hide my "supplies" somewhere :o)

By Sunday afternoon things were still in a mess but I needed some time with my sewing machine

and made a start on this :o)

Just to mix things up a little, today I have reorganised the other living room, kitchen and the dining room and then went and made a pressing board for my sewing space.

I am going to love not having an ironing board set up 24 / 7.
Now to go and finish finding homes for everything.

Ohh Sharon, why do you do this to yourself!

Hugs, Sharon

Friday Fun

A Craft Show, Retail Therapy and cooking with my little helper.
My Friday couldn't get much better.

This weekend in Bendigo we have "Craft Alive" happening and I was lucky enough to take some "me time" this morning to go for a wonder around all by myself. Nice and slow. No one telling me to hurry up or no one glaring at me because I was talking too much :o)

This book, "Ho Ho Ho Let It Snow" was a little online purchase that arrived earlier this week and the fabrics were my first purchase for the day. I am looking forward to cutting into these.

Here are some of the projects from the book.

My next little purchase.  No plans to start this one yet. I'm just going to start stashing them for later.  I can blame this purchase on Suzitee :)  If you pop on over here and take a look at her version and you will fully understand my love of her version.  I have plans for mine to be made with all my Bonnie and Camille Scraps. Ranging from Bliss through to Scrumptious.

On the way home I also stopped at my LQS and picked up these. I have plans for them :o)

Now, to get out of the house this morning I had to make a "bribe" with Miss Lily that we would make cookies when I got home. So this afternoon we have been busy making Raspberry and Chocolate Chunk Cookies, double batch ...... Yum Yum

The recipe can be found here on Retro mummy's Blog

and let me just say, this beater didn't stay like this for long!

Have a great weekend.

New Bag?

I have decided that I need a new bag :)
I have just purchased the pattern :)

Super Tote by Noodlehead

(images borrowed from here)

More inspiring bags can be seen HERE

But my printer isn't working :(
and I have to help out at Kinder again today so no fabric shopping just yet :(

Hopefully I can create something "special" just for me.
I have given myself a deadline ..... I want to take this new bag with me to Melbourne for my weekend away, Craft Show, Friends in Stitches (both Saturday and Sunday), great friends, laughs and sewing.  I'm so excited as not only do I get to spend a weekend away with friends but I will get to meet many "friends" that I have only known online.

Yes I need a new bag.
Off to browse (online for now)  ........    fabric options to be considered.

Best Friends cont.

I have finished the second stitched hexie for my
Best Friends Forever BOM
by Rosalie Quinlan

I LOVE how they are looking up on my design wall.

but I need some of my pins back so time to hand stitch some together.

I also love that this is "quilt as you go".

I am breaking away from the "layout guide" provided in Installment 1 as I like the idea of there being a full hexie on the border of my quilt.  (If I was to follow the guide the two hexies on the far left would not be there).  The original quilt has not been released yet as Rosalie is still working on it. Who knows she might have it on display here in Bendigo at the weekend (Craft Alive). I am looking forward to seeing the original.

Here are my first two surrounded with some "Scrumptious" hexies.

Time to start working on the next one.

Have a great day, hugs Sharon

Learning Curves on my Sunday

Midnight at the Oasis .... cont.

This one is definitely taking me outside of my comfort zone.
I was so pleased with how my Marcelle Quilt turned out
that I am scared that I am going to screw this one up!

This is where I am up to at the moment.  Almost half way through the needle turn on this border.

I am loving the 'pop' of purple and hope I can work some more in as I go.

My border fabric is fraying really bad so I thought that I should add the next border to stop this.  I knew I wanted a dark border but kept doubting myself.  (This border will have bright applique on it). So I asked my Instagram friends (I'm 'lilabellelane' if you want to find me) for some help. Here is the pattern for your reference.  Check out all the Churn Dash blocks. They finish at 3" - pure madness!!

Most opinions on Instagram were for the dark, which was my first choice. A few are also saying light, which makes me doubt myself again. So (for the time being) I have run with the dark aka black. I think I like how it looks but I wont really know until I start putting the applique on. Must finish that inner border first though :)

I have no idea how this quilt is going to turn out, it is going to be a real learning curve for me.

Enjoy your Sunday
hugs, Sharon

Friday Night Sewing

Best Friends Forever

I selected my threads

and set to work on the first stitchery.
I am now pleased to say that I finished it last night,

then framed it.

then just had to see it with some hexies around

Yep, still loving my fabric selection.

1 down, many many more to do.
This is definitely going to be a long term project :)
These Hexies measure 7.5" across from point to point and the stitcheries are beautifully designed.

I am looking forward to starting the next one but first I think I need to add some more petals to my Midnight in the Oasis WIP.

Have a lovely weekend.
Hugs, Sharon

Best Friends Forever

I have had Installment one for a couple of weeks now.

Best Friends Forever BOM
by Rosalie Quinlan

I have never really been "into" the framed Hexies but Rosalie's stitcheries have sold me on this one :o)
I have been playing with a couple of ideas, even drafting Paper Piecing templates for the plain hexies.  First up I was going to use a new range in at my LQS and then planned on using all my Bonnie and Camille Scraps.

Something was stopping me. It just wasn't right so I just let the pattern sit there.
Then on Wednesday I could hear a "scream".
Yep "Scrumptious" was letting out an almighty scream :o)

Once the decision was made, it was so easy to start cutting :)
This pattern is "quilt as you go" and I need 60+ of the plain hexies plus the embroidered ones. I have started on the plain ones.

Here are the first 15.
This line of fabrics is truly living up to its name :o)

Now to pick some coordinating threads.

Hugs Sharon
