PATCHWORK GIFTS - book tour

My dear friend Elise is celebrating the release of her first book, Patchwork Gifts with Tuva Publishing.

With 20 projects to choose from it became a little hard to pick just one to make.  I had narrowed it down to the adorable mushrooms on the cover and the Eco Friendly Snack Bags and the bags won.

The snack bags are a super quick project to make. It probably took me longer to pick the fussy cuts for the front!

My Miss L made this yummy Brownie just in time for the photos :)

If you would like to meet the other makers on the book tour please visit Elise's blog HERE. You can also find all the details of how to join in and play BINGO to win some fantastic prizes.

Patchwork Gifts is now available for pre order at all quality book stores, Amazon, Book Depository etc. and it is a lovely addition to any book shelf.

Congratulations on you first book Elise and thank you for allowing me
to join in on the book tour fun xx

Colour Burst Block Two - Celestial Star Quilt

"Celestial Star"
the Tula Pink version.

I have finished the second bock for my new version of my 'Celestial Star Quilt'.

I have very little of that black Neptune fabric that surrounds my centres left over from my La Pass Quilt so I have very cautiously gone ahead and cut it up and I am very pleased that I had just enough to go around the centre of all nine of my colour burst blocks.

Here is the progress shots of what order I went about selecting the fabrics for this block.
There really is no reason for the order on an individual block. Some I know what fabrics I want to include so I add them in first and build around them.

Here is a reminder of block 1.

And the progress shot of how I am going.

I have created a dedicated page with the links to all my 'Tula Pink Celestial Star Quilt' posts HERE just incase you wanted to go back and take a look.

Happy stitching,

Sharon x

The pattern for this quilt can be found in my book,
'Quilting on the go ... English Paper Piecing'

Celestial Star Stitch-Along

The wonderful team over at The Red Thread Studio have just announced their new Stitch-Along for 2018 and I am so excited that they have chosen my

Celestial Star Quilt

the cover quilt from my book

"Quilting on the Go ... English Paper Piecing".

All the details for the Stitch-Along can be found in their Blog Post HERE.

They even have a fabric option where you can use the same fabrics that they are using.

In my original quilt I used Liberty Fabrics.

How great is that quilting by Linda at Ladybug Quilting here in Bendigo.

So there really is no better time than now to grab your kit, or get it out if you have packed it away safely for later and start pondering your fabric options and join the girls in making your own Celestial Star.

If you are not in the US and you wish to play along you can.
My book, "Quilting on the Go ..... English Paper Piecing" can be found in all quality online book stores like Amazon, Fishpond etc.  Remember to also check your Local Quilt Shop too.

Paper and template packs can also be ordered in by your Local Quilt Shop if they don't have them in stock already. Also, check my stockist page. Alternatively you can find them online at Paper Pieces.com HERE

If you are a shop looking to purchase wholesale, all my patterns, paper packs etc can be purchased wholesale through Creative Abundance.

When I first designed Celestial Star I had Tula Pink fabrics in mind but to keep with the theme and feel if my book I decided to work with Liberty Fabrics.  So, maybe it is time I made that Tula Pink version. Stay tuned :)

Happy Stitching,

Sharon x

Pretty Handmades Book Showcase

Today is my turn on the "Pretty Handmades" Book Showcase.
Lauren's new book is is full of beautiful Felt and Fabric Sewing projects.

Each project is teamed with detailed and beginner friendly instructions.

I decided that my first project from Lauren's new book would be the

"Posie Patchwork Pouch"

I enjoyed adding the Hand Quilting in a co-ordinating Aurifil Floss.

I also decided to make the tabs at each end a little bigger.

I didn't have a lace zip on hand so I have used a regular zip and added my lace to it and I also added a running stitch through the lace using the Aurifil Floss.

The August Liberty Society Bundle works so well with the Sparkle Essex Linen and Lauren's beautiful pattern.

Lauren, huge congratulations on your new book
and thank you for being there for the chats during
the writing process for both our books xx

Here is the list of the talented makers that are participating in Lauren's Book Showcase.
Be sure to pop on over and see what they have made. I am sure that we are in for some beautiful makes in each makers own style.

Book Tour Round up and Giveaway Winner Announced

My apologies for being a little late with this post but the dreaded Flu hit hard after me fighting it off for weeks. Time now to refocus :)

Firstly, a HUGE thank you to all the amazing and talented makers that joined me on the Book Tour for my new book "Quitling on the go ... English Paper Piecing" and for all the love I have received for my first book.  Without so much love and support, not only from my immediate family but you, my quilting family this would not have been possible.

I have one more make of my own to share :)

A little while ago Sedef from Down Grapevine Lane sent me some of her new line Sweet Prairie to play with and my second project was a new placement.

Time now to share some of the more amazing makes that were shared as part of the Book Tour.

First up is Minki Kim and her gorgeous makes. May I also make the suggestion that you definitely visit her blog as she does the most amazing Sewing Illustrations and her book is also a must have.

Next up is Carlie, otherwise known as @Quilty_Carlie on Instagram.
Carlie has shared some more progress on her 'Celestial Star Quilt" and the start other Patchwork Block Keeper.

Alexandra, on Instagram she is known as @Alexoq has been sharing more of her Celestial Start magic.

Matthew otherwise know as Mister Domestic has been playing as well and this was his first time playing with Clamshells!

Anna aka @Spanzy has been sharing a little more of her Celestial Star Quilt also.

I am seriously crushing these Tula Pink blocks.

And another Celestial Star in the process, this time from Elise at Elise and Emelie

And next up the talented Wynn from zakkaArt.
I have always admired Wynn's style and I love the details that she adds to a projects but did you know that, until now she had not English Paper Pieced!  I am so honoured that she took the time to learn a new skill over her summer break with the aid of My Book.

Not only is Wynn new to EPP but she also decided to take 6 pointed stars and the clamshells!
I did't even start playing will Clamshells until recently.
That leave me with one more thing, the
GIVEAWAY WINNER

Huge Congratulations to SANDY N
Check your email Inbox, there is a message from me :)

Thank you again for all your love and support.
Now to return to "regular programming" and seeing what else I have been up to in the studio.

So much Eye Candy to share - Quilting on the Go ... English Paper Piecing Book Tour

Apologies for this little book tour update being a little late but as they say
it is "better to be late than never."

So many wonderful creations to share today.

Nadra from ellis and higgs

And the fabric that Nadra has used, it is her new collection for Riley Blake.

Lauren from Molly and Mama

Lauren is also about to release her first book, also with Tuva Publishing.

How pretty does it look. I can't wait to get my copy.
Congratulations Lauren.
If you are interested HERE is a link to Amazon.

The awesome @giucy_giuce on Instagram has turned a block from the cover quilt, Celestial Star into a Clock using the pattern in my book.   I personally think every craft room needs one of these :)

Jodi from Tales of Cloth has also made a clock.
EPP Clocks will be the "new thing" :)

Next up is Amira from The Little Mushroom Cap
and she has made the Patchwork Block Keeper.

I just love the fabrics that she has chosen and look at the amazing Free Motion Quilting on the back.

Melody has a beautiful and fresh new blog over at
Melody Matilda  and she will be sharing her journey of her
"Radiant Quilt".  Melody is making hers in Reproduction Fabrics.

Next up is Sedef, also a fellow Tuva Author,  from Down Grapevine Lane

Sedef has used her upcoming range "Sweet Prairie" for Riley Blake.
I have had the opportunity to play with some and it is beautiful. Keeps your eyes open for this range in store, you will not be disappointed.

Alisha from Ministry of Fabric has made the pouch and I love that she has upsized it by 50% to cater for her needs and just look at her divine monogram.  You must also check out her Online store. It is one of my favourite places to shop but don't tell my Hubby!

Now you have to admit that is a lot of eye candy in one blog post!

I am so grateful for everyone who is participating in the Book Tour. The tour list has got a little messed up but that is life, things happen and we all accept that. So rest assured I have not missed anyone, well intentionally.

GIVEAWAY
And don't forget to leave a comment for another change to win your own signed copy of My book.

Happy stitching,
