"Melting Away Quilt" and a {GIVEAWAY}

Riley Bake Designs have released a new book.

"Sew Colorful with Crayola"

"Sew Colourful with Crayola" has 8 fun projects too choose from.

... and I have a Quilt in this book :)
Allow me to officially introduce

"Melting Away"

This is my original quilt, made nearly 2 years ago!
You may notice that the pattern for the book underwent a few minor changes.

The amazing quilting on the original was done by Linda at Ladybug Quilting here in Bendigo.

The Quilt as pictured in the book made its first appearance at Quilt Market 12 months ago and here it is at the entrance of the Riley Bake Booth/Section at Quilt Market.

(I did not make this version though.)

Today I received some happy mail and I get to share with you :)

The wonderful team at Riley Blake in the US have sent me an extra copy of the book and a Crayola Box of 10 FQ's to share with one lucky blog reader. (Pictured Below).

Giveaway is now closed.

To enter you just need to have an Australian Postal Address and leave me a comment below, maybe tell me what you would make with the 10FQ's in the Crayola Box and you will be entered into the draw.

The winner will be drawn at Random, 8pm AEDST, Sunday 15th October 2017
and then contacted by email.

(Sorry OS followers but the postage is just not feasible on this one).

If you would like to secure your own copy it can be purchased HERE on AMAZON
and also at The Fat Quarter Shop

Good luck and happy stitching,
Sharon xx

Sweet Prairie Pouch from "Quilting on the go ... English Paper Piecing"

This sweet zipper pouch is one of the projects in my new book,
"Quilting on the go ... English Paper Piecing".

Sedef from Down Grapevine Lane sent me some of her upcoming range 'Sweet Prairie" to play with and instantly I knew a project from my book that I want to remake as part of the Book Tour.

Such sweet small scale florals. I have teamed it with some gold fleck Cork Fabric and a gold dot background.  I personally love how it has turned out.

The original in the book is made from Tilda fabrics and it is teamed with a Rose Gold Leather.

I have also remade another project using this range but I will save that for another day :)

Thank you for stopping by and don't forget, if you leave a comment on one or all of my Book Tour posts through to 15th August you go into the draw to win a signed copy of my new book.

Happy Stitching,

Sharon x

A new Free Tutorial - "Book Worm" Library Bag

I have a new free tutorial over on the Bernina Blog today for.....

"Book Worm" Library Bag

I made Lily a Library bag when she started in Prep. It was big so that it would fit the large picture books that she would be bringing home. Now she has started Grade 3 and she so graciously asked me for a new, smaller one as she was now reading "Junior Fiction".

How could I possibly refuse?

I have also had a play with the Embroidery Unit for my machine.

You can pop on over to the Bernina blog HERE for all the details.

If you would like to see my other Free Tutorials they can be found by clicking the
Blue "Free Tutorial" button up the top right.

Thank you for stopping by and remember to always,

"Create what YOU love",

Southern Aurora Quilt - Bittersweet Blog Tour - GIVEAWAY

Today is my day on the

"Blog Tour"

I had the absolute pleasure of starting to playing with this new range from Sue Daley back in November last year.  When you English Paper Piece you need a LOT of lead time!

I had this design sitting here waiting for the perfect fabric and once these arrived I knew it was the right time to dive in and write my first EPP Pattern - Southern Aurora.

Sue has designed this range with the fussy cutter in mind and has worked the colours to team beautifully with Riley Blakes Basics Range.

I find keeping my secret sewing to myself really hard and during the making of this quilt I did let the occasional pic sneak through to my social media :)

I designed this quit to allow for as much or as little fussy cutting as the maker would wish.
I also designed a NEW SHAPE!

I wanted the hexagons to stand out in their own right so I designed the "Lilabelle Polygon" to frame the 4" Hexagons perfectly.

Here are just some of the examples of the fussy cutting within my Quilt.

This Quilt is pretty special to me. Not only is it my first (yes there are more coming) EPP Pattern, with my own shape, this one also made it Debut at the International Quilt Market in Salt Lake City.

Linda at Ladybug Quilting has quilted this one for me.
Linda is very clever at choosing a design that works with the quilt.
This design gives Souther Aurora a nice flow and movement.

The pattern for Southern Aurora can be purchased with the templates and papers.

Ask at your Local Quilt Shop or visit some of the stockists that I have listed on my stockets page HERE. If you are a retail outlet that would like my Wholesale details please email me at sharon@lilabellelanecreations.com

I also have it available as a stand alone hard copy pattern in my ETSY Store HERE.
(No papers and Templates)

These photos were taken here in Bendigo before my quilt left for its adventure at Quilt Market.

If you are in the Ballarat area, my quilt is currently hanging at Cotton Factory and if you are in Queensland it will be on show on the 22nd and 23rd October in Roma and the following weekend at the Gympie Show.  Just look for Janeene at the stand for  "Fabric Patch".

My turn on the Sweet Orchard Blog Tour ...... What did I make?

Welcome to my day on the

This gorgeous line is the debut collection from Sedef at Down Grapevine Lane
for Riley Blake Designs.  It is a sweet reflection of Sedef's style. Tiny florals and fruit with some sweet spots , cheater prints and the perfect bias stripe.

Here is the seak peek that I have shared previously to give you a hint at what I made.
Would you like to see more?

"My Sweet Orchard Weekender Bag"

I have been looking for an excuse to make another "Weekender Bag" and this one is my third but the first time I have actually put the pipping on and I must say that my machine handled it like a dream. Not a broken needle in sight!

I have made this one especially for my Lily.
Lily loves to go away over the school holidays to stay with her grandparents
and now she can do so in style!

My plans for this project changed once the fabric arrived.
Originally I was going to design and piece some blocks that meant things to Lily an there was not going to be any EPP involved but once I set my eyes on the gorgeous cheater prints I just knew I had to cut them up. They are perfect for fussy cutting 1" hexagons.

Also, Lilys new bag was going to be Red and Aqua but this yellow and green cheater print stole my heart.

I love the pop that is adds to Lily's bag.

I English Paper Pieced both the front and back pocket panels.
It may have added a few extra days to the making of the bag but I do love how it has turned out and now I can save the pieced blocks I had planned for another project :)

I have also used "Soft N Stable" by Annie for the main bag construction.
It can be a little hard to find here in Australia but I am pleased to say that Alison over at Cotton Factory has listened and now stocks it, and it's on the bolt!
(It can be found HERE )

And here is my Miss Lily :)

She looks rather happy with herself doesn't she :)

If you haven't already, be sure to pop on over and see what everyone else has been creating with this gorgeous new line and don't forget to go and visit Sedef on the 27th for a Giveaway.
