Cherish @ DO. good stitches

My First Tutorial ... Eekk hope I get this right!

May is my month to co-ordinate the Cherish circle of Do Good Stitches here in Australia.

This is the block I have chosen for the Charity Quilt(s) for May.
I am asking my Bee members to make one block in Pink and one in Blue -
both suitable for infants (but with NO novelty prints). I will be making the blocks into
two smaller quilts  to be donated to a Charity in Melbourne. More on that later.

(If somebody knows the name of this block please let me know)
OK Here we go.

This block is great to use up scraps, especially if you have some Jelly Roll
strips laying around.

Cutting requirements
From each of 4 different fabrics cut
4 - 2.5"  squares
2 - 4.5" x 2.5" rectangles

From White Solid cut 20 x 2.5" squares

take 16 of your 2.5" squares and draw a diagonal line down the middle.
Use a pencil or erasable pen as we don't want to see it through the white.

lay right sides together and sew along the line

trim 1/4" from the stitched line

(You can save these off-cuts if you like and make some smaller HST)
Bee Members - this is the "Scrap Block" I have referred to on Flickr.

You can make this "scrap block" and include them in the back of your quilt
if you like or even put them towards a border :o)

Back to the block.

Press seams open.  They should measure 2.5" square.
Trim if necessary.

Layout as pictured

 Sew your rows together

Ta-da, you have 1/4 of your block.
Repeat to make all 4

Can the Cherish Bee Members please stop here and post as is to allow
for even placement of color value within our quilts. Thank you ladies :o)

Once you have your 4 units, sew them together and press.
You will now have a 12.5" block.

Hugs, Sharon
