So this happened this morning.

Yep, its the best photo he would allow me to take!
I am so not ready for this, so how do I cope?

I come home via one of my Local Quilt Shops :o)

Ahhhhh...... Retail Therapy.
Now I am all ready to start this :o)

Wine anyone? I'm sure it's after 5pm somewhere :o)

  1. Oh my! Is that an L for 'Love you Mum'? My oldest is going to high school this year - that alone is giving me heart palpitations. I am glad you stopped off at your local quilt shop!

  3. Have fun with the driving. I look back on my time teaching Sam to drive with
affection. We did lots of day trips to country towns (where there just happened to be quilt shops) had some lovely lunches together and talked, just the two of us, for hours. I also became really familiar with all Sam's favourite music. We drove on country roads, with all the windows open, singing at the top of our lungs. Great fun.

  8. You will get through it with pride, (and lots of fabric). It only hurts for the first few years - or until the insurance rates go down (and then you buy more fabric).

  9. I immersed myself in quilting when my son went away to college (6 hours away!). When he graduated, he quickly found a job - 5 hours away! ::sniff sniff:: He's been away from home now for over 5 years total and it's still not easy! I think we need to sell out house and move closer :)

  10. I just realized, it wasn't college you were referring to, it's a learners permit?! Oh my. Ya, that's tough. Good luck with that one!

  13. Good luck with the Lplater. A few lessons and then yes you will have some wonderful times with your son. I actually got a lot of information about my son's life when we went for drives... much better than the occasional grunt that was the usual response to anything.

  14. Well done. All around. Do you close your eyes when you are in the car with him? Looking forward to seeing this one come together. I have seen it in my LQS - I like your colour scheme.

  15. Relax, its the beginning of freedom for you too, no more running them around when they have their own licence and wheels. I speak as the owner of a 22 year old and a 19 year old. Spend the learning time instilling your own driving standards into them, trust me it does get in! And I agree with EllieK, with boys you get more chatting time as they will talk more if they don't have to look you in the eye at the same time. My best tip? Get yourself a stick on mirror for your side of the car, best thing I ever bought (you'll find them at the auto store). That way you can see what's happening behind you too without having to turn around. Good luck to both of you!
