Oh Deliah

In about October of last year Jen Kingwell announced her new Block of the Month for 2017.

"Delilah"

I love Jens work so I signed up immediately through Jens shop Amitie Textiles in Melbourne.
This Block of the Month is a little different as every month it comes with a set of templates. So not only are participants making Jens "Delilah Quilt" we are also collecting a set of templates that can be individually used to make more blocks or quilts.

Month one has arrived and as you can see I went for the Template and Fabric option.
How could I not, I just love Jen's scrappy style.

This month we were to make two of the blocks and here are mine :)

Did you notice the fussy cut in the one above?

And together.

I am also going to add in a few of my own fabrics as I go. The more the merrier.
This month I have added a few low volumes, plainer than what was included to help my colours pop.

One month down and I am on track!
(I don't have the best track record with BOM's so I am pleased to currently be up to date!)

Next block arrives in a couple of weeks.

Happy Stitching,

Sharon x

The Circle Game

The Circle Game Quilt

Back in March I attended a class at The Cotton Factory in Ballarat
with the talented Jen Kingwell where we started this quilt.

Well this week I dug out this UFO and decided it was time to get it over the line!

I don't know why I stopped when I did as I only had two block to go.

Here are my final two blocks.

I am in love with this quilt.
It has taught me so much with the curves and how to let go and let scrappy take over.

I LOVE the final result.

And I couldn't resist the "stained glass" picture this morning.

I am planning on hand quilting this one, something I've not done before so I think it will be tackled next winter. Too much happening now to even think about starting it.

Thank you for visiting,
hugs Sharon

Circle Game Quilt

Since attending a workshop earlier this year with Jen Kingwell I have been slowly plodding away at my Circle Game Blocks.  These are a mix of both hand and machine piecing. All of which scare me as they involve curves :)

All together .......

Still another 6 blocks to go and I am loving to process of each one.
I am also seeing a new addiction forming ..... hand piecing, just don't tell my Sewing Machine.

Until next time,
hugs Sharon

A Mystery BOM by Jen Kingwell

I have been admiring Jen Kingwell's designs for some time.
She has an amazing eye for color. I love how she puts this fabric with that and it just works.
So when the chance came to sign up for her new Mystery BOM there was no asking me twice.

It will be a mix of hand piecing, machine piecing and applique.

The first installment has been sitting here for nearly a month now and I've been thrown in the deep end with hand piecing ..... yikes. I've not done this before!

It's also given me a reason to break open the Aurifil Threads.

I finished this first bit when Month one first arrived and then away it went.
until tonight.  I am trying to keep on top of this one and my Month two is being posted this week.

Things didn't start to well as you can see but then I got back on track.

I am trying not to be too critical as I have never hand pieced like this before.
Maybe I will just tell myself that I am going for a "rustic" look.

Month one is now finished.  (It gets appliqued on to the background fabric at  later date).
Time to stalk postie for Month two :o)

If your interested you can find more details here.
