My Secret

A New

 

 

No I am not Pregnant.
Boy would I have some explaining to do if I was!
But I do have a New Baby.
Baby Quilt that is :o)

Isn't he cute . . . .  well I think so :o)
 

Let me explain.

 

When I first started making my Bottled Rainbow Quilt to help

bust some scraps I just could not overlook the "scraps" that were

being created whilst trying to scrap bust.

 

 

See why I love playing with the rainbow, it just looks so pretty :o)

 

The obvious choice to me was to make a

"Baby Bottled Rainbow"

 

 

I still can't believe that I have not blogged about this project until now.

I am not sure why when I blog everything else.
I am sorry if this does disappoint but yes this is "my secret".
 

My Mini Bottled Rainbow is made from the scraps of the bigger one.

I saved the trimming from the larger one for the baby.

This is kind of like "double scrap busting"

 

 

I love the photos of the "baby" on the other.

 

My "new baby" comes in at 29" x 21"

and was made in tandem with it's bigger counterpart.

First Quilt finish for 2013

I have my first Quilt finish for 2013 

"Bottled Rainbow"
Scrap busting project.
Started in 2012
 

 

Finished size 64" x 80"

This quilt now resides over the back of the couch in the

back lounge / my Sewing space.

 

As you know I LOVE Rainbow and scrap sewing

so it's nice to leave it out for inspiration :o)

 

 

 

I found the perfect backing fabric for this one.

Rainbow Spotty Squares :o)

 

 

 Now, it's taken me all day to get this post up, thanks Blogger :(
so I will post it before it decides to stop working again but before I go.
I have been keeping a secret.
Not that exciting really,
but I will share with you tomorrow.

Block last night.

I am hoping that I can get back into the routine of one a week.

I also shared on Instagram earlier today a sneak Peak of another little quilt

that I am finishing off for a swap.
I will now share the finished item as I have a couple of Minis
 heading off soon so the new owners will have to wait and see
if this one is for them or not :o)

Time now for a little Hand Stitching in front of the fire and TV.

Week 2 

I seem to have lots of green scraps but 

when it came to doing this block I fell short with not many blending with the 

"Cactus" shading.

Must remember to pick an easier colour to work with next week.

Bottled Rainbow

My Bottled Rainbow - Scrap busting Quilt for 2012

I decided last year that I would make at least one scrap busting quilt a year. 

 Last year it was my Rainbow Postage Stamp Quilt 

and this year it is my version of the Bottled Rainbow Quilt.  

My aim is to make one block a week and because I can't think of 

anything witty to call my posts or a day that rhymes with "Bottled Rainbow" 

I have just decided to try and post about the a block at the end of the week 

so just making it for this week and only being finished late this afternoon

is my first block :)

This is a great quilt to make with your scraps of fabric and your batting scraps.

So no wastage :o)

This will also be my first attempt at "ticker tape" and Quilt as you go.

Back to the weekend

O.K. My camera and Computer are playing friendly again

 and I have been able to get some pictures transferred over.

So lets get back to my "Lazy Saturday" and sorry for the two posts in one day.

If you remember I was going to play with these,

I now have a pile of these

16 panels measuring 16.5" x 20.5"

they now need the batting added and then they will be

ready to go and become my Scrap Busting project for 2012,

Mothers Day

How beautiful is my Mothers Day Card and butterfly.

I just love the little things that the kids make. 

Keegan made the card at school and yesterday she sat with Lily 

and helped her make the butterfly.

Just priceless to watch.

Aiden brought my Coffee in Bed and Declyn made me Brunch.

For me they are worth way more than anything that can be purchased.

I was super spoilt this year with some added gifts to play with

FQ Bundle of Vintage Modern

and a Kit t make a new Bag, chockies and more.

Thank you family xx

For me. Mothers Day is a time for reflection.

When I was 9yo my dad's birthday fell on the Mothers Day weekend

It was only 11 months after he passed away.

So as well as celebrating and acknowledging everything my mum has done for us

I remember my dad, 

celebrate the short time I had with him and 

wish him a Happy Birthday.

A lazy Saturday playing

It is almost 11am Saturday Morning,

Hubby is at work, 

I am still in my PJ's as are three of my four children

and there is a chill on the air.

No one feels like doing much so a PJ day it is!

I don't fell like doing any housework

and I don't want to play with any of my WIP's

so I think I might turn on some music and play with these instead :o)
