Stitched Sewing Organisers - My TWO Totes

Welcome, today is my turn on the

"Stitched Sewing Organizers"

Sew Along that is being hosted by Pennie at Tuppence Ha'penny Quilts.

The Stitch Along is showcasing the new book from Aneela Hoey.
The book has 15 projects ranging from Pretty Cases, Boxes, Pouches and more,
all to help keep you organised.

Each week of the sew along a project is highlighted, or nominated as the make for the week. If you post your completed project to Instagram during the week with the correct hashtags you can go into the drawn for some amazing Giveaway Prizes.  All the details and conditions of entry can be found HERE.

This week on the Sew Along we are making the
"Project Tote"

I can not express the importance of using the correct interfacings when making the projects from this book. Sadly, if you do no use the correct interfacings etc you may very well end up with an inferior product at the end. How do I know?  My first version of this Tote did not go to plan. I well and truly mucked up the handles which in turn left me with no coordinating fabric left to make them again but all is ok as now I have two Totes.  One as per the pattern and one with my own little "pattern hack" aka different handle!

Let's look at the one as per the pattern first :)

As you can see I have dived into my Tula Pink stash and "fussy cut" some Holiday Homies so that my Tote has this totally cool Dog as the centre piece on the front and Reindeer on the back.

I also fussy cut the internal pocket!
This project now stores a much neglected crochet project in it.

For my second Tote I decided to English Paper Piece the bag section and have some 'sparkle cork' on the bottom. I have use 1" Hexagons and pieced both the front and back panel.

Adding small details with the Handmade Tag and the cotton lace.

This is much the softer, feminine version of the Tote and if I spy this fabric range in my local quilt shop I may just reverse sew and add the handles as per the pattern in the future.
